Wednesday February 24th
Red Aces, The Box Rockets, Iowa, Ross Cottee & The Timezones
$5 entry – 8pm
Emerging from the beer-soaked card games on New Years Eve, the late-night singalongs with the old folks, and a genetic predisposition to an insatiable musical appetite, Red Aces is the sonic union of four young brothers, each with their own musical experience and perspective. Wandering through the dark corridors of indie rock, taking a left turn into the desolate pastures of mournful alt-country, and emerging into the blinding light, searing guitars, brooding vocals and thundering rhythms of epic psychedelia, Red Aces aim to deliver a show that is as eclectic as it is intense. Red Aces play the Birmingham Hotel, Wednesday feb 17th, with The Box Rockets, Iowa, Ross Cottee & The Timezones.
Thursday February 25th
The Lazy Sons, On Like Kong, Bastards of Rhythm, Handsome Kev Bravery
$5 entry – 8pm
The Lazy Sons and On Like Kong are among Melbourne's most promising indie rock acts. They channel all the classics, but maintain authenticity. Each has played their way into the hearts of many Melbournians: The Lazy Sons have supported the likes of The Galvatrons, Dallas Crane and Tim Rogers (so you get the idea that they're somewhat of a rock band), while On Like Kong have enjoyed a huge amount of success with shows dotted around Melbourne's most popular venues, forging a following amongst the most intelligible of the town's south-of-the-river inhabitants. They join forces tonight, and a rollicking good time is promised. They play the Birmingham Hotel, Thursday February 25th with Bastards of Rhythm & Handsome Kev Bravery.

Caravan Records & Arts Festival
Saturday February 27th
Caravan Records & Arts Music Fiesta
Donation Entry – 4pm
We are putting on this party/gig/art exhibition in an attempt to unite Melbourne artists, whether they are a band, painter, tattooist, writer, poet ect... If we can get people to start breaking down these walls of separation between genres and mediums of music and art, then we’re starting to succeed in being one big force as oppose to many tiny groups. This fiesta is going to concentrate on music and art. Twenty bands are being put together and the doors open at 4pm. We’re putting on a massive BBQ and creating feature walls with original artwork from unknown Melbourne artists. Proceeds are being donated to a number of charities including The Choir of Hard Knocks that helps homeless people live better lives by making music a regular part of day to day life.
There will be two stages (Front Bar and Main Room), ten bands on each stage. We will also be gathering a bunch of artists together to do original artwork for the festival! So expect hours of great live music over two stages, feature walls of visual art with good friends in a great venue and all for an amazing cause.
