people’s lives worldwide. Joe sadly passed away at his home in
December 2002. After three years of successful shows in Sydney,
Revolution Rock will be making its debut in Melbourne to pay homage to
Joe Strummer. Revolution Rock Melbourne will be taking place at the

Wednesday September 8th
Geoffrey O'Connor, Jessica Says, Kins
$6 entry – 8pm
With the sun peeking out from behind gray clouds, and flowers
beginning to dot gardens only recently bare, it seems that Spring is
well and truly on its way. Along with Spring, naturally, come thoughts
of romance - and what could be more romantic than a month-long musical
affair with a gentle, considerate lover like Geoffrey O'Connor?
Wednesdays in September at the Birmingham Hotel, Crayon Fields
frontman Geoffrey O'Connor will celebrate the advent of Spring. He's
come a long way from the virginal adolescent heard on Crayon Fields'
dreamy first album Animal Bells in 2006, or his winsome solo venture
Liquorice Night, released under the name Sly Hats in 2007. Followup
Crayons album All the Pleasures Of the World from last year introduced
a grown-up songwriter, one ready to tackle grown-up themes of love and
intimacy. "Sex has entered the room," is how Mess+Noise put it in
their album review.
Now Geoffrey is taking it one step further. His new solo venture is a
musical distillation of late night whispers, expensive cocktails and
rumpled bedsheets. Due for release on Chapter Music early next year,
Geoffrey's first solo album under his own name will reveal an
elegantly debauched side, hitherto unseen in the much-loved
songwriter.
For next month's residency, the Geoffrey O'Connor live experience will
take a different form each week, with Geoffrey presenting his music
with help from members of Jessica Says, Milk Teddy, ii, Treetops and
Aleks & the Ramps
Friday September 10th
The Buftie Boys, Tehachapi, Indigo Kids, Boogie Monster
$5 – 8pm
"Buftie Boys have spent most of 2010 in hibernation, but are now back
prowling bars. Armed with a loose mix of garage, punk and primal
grooves, this three piece of duel basses and drums will leave you
unsure as to boogie or bang heads. Think of annoying Melbourne
Bitter-loving youths stomping on disco records in the wood shed.
After mixing and mastering some sessions from Bakehouse in Fitzroy,
Buftie Boys have compiled an EP of primitive lo-fi fuzz which they’ll
be launching on Friday September 10th with guests Tehachapi, Indigo
Kids and Boogie Monster. Lock up your livestock and come along. "
Saturday September 11th
Jonesez, The Statics, Viking Frontier
$12 entry – 8pm
Jonesez isn't really a band, even though it certainly sounds like one.
It's best described as a solo project with a little help from some
friends...To celebrate the release of Jonesez new record Betty's Soup,
a launch show has been locked in for Saturday September 11 at The
Birmingham in Melbourne. Joining Jonesez on the night are Kempsey from
Canberra + The Statics & Viking Frontier. The Birmy have a sweet new
band room for everyone to enjoy & tickets for the show are on sale now
from www.oztix.com.au
Friday September 17th
Greasers, Fait Accompli (Syd), Myths & Tropics (Syd) & Guests
$5 entry – 8pm
Sydney's Fait Accompli return to play four shows over three nights in
Melbourne in September. With their debut album Dreams still yet to
drop, these shows will be the early celebrations of their next single
Blue Eyes which is set to be the sure fire hit of the summer. It's a
song about an Edie Sedgwick like character on the run from her demons
while starting over in a new town. With a machine gun riff and a beat
reminiscent of Sonic Youth in glory mode, this song is that catchy
you'll be humming the melody in your sleep. Its Springtime Melbourne,
it's time to shake off the winter cobwebs, escape your sorrows and
head out to a show. Fait Accompli play The Birmingham Hotel Friday
September 17th, With new band of Ex The Scare members ‘Myths &
Tropics’ & Little Red side project “Greasers”
